Single radio with 120º sector antenna
The number of radios in a system greatly defines its functionalities and performance. This system is equiped with a single radio intended to give service in a point-to-multipoint wireless network. If client devices (those that connect to this Lobo) are spread in a wide area we can use a directional antenna. If client devices are more concentrated in a determiend area we can try to use a more directional antena (for example a sector antenna). The more directional an antenna is, more it concentrates energy and longer is the range.

With a triple radio up to three network devices can communciate simultaneously. In a multipoint configuration the number of radios scales performance lineally.

If client devices (those that connect to this Lobo) are spread in a wide area we can use up to three long range sector antennas of 120º each instead of 180º antennas used in a two radio device. The more directional (lower aperture) an antenna is, more it concentrates energy and longer is the range.

Also, in single radio systems we must take in consideration that power of the signal will be somehow inverse proportional to the area covered. Lobometrics single radio Network Servers can be used in several configurations in a point-to-multipoint deployment, knowing on forehand that a 360º with a omnidirectional antenna will have a noticeably lower coverage that a triple redio system with three 120ª sector antennas.

If the device has to serve an area with high density of users, multiradio systems will negotiate higher speed protocols due to a clearer signal, so three times more users will be served in a single time frame and each with a higher speed.

In Point-to-Point links, single radio configurations are only recomended in single hop connections and are limited to half duplex traffic.

Dual radio configurations are recommended to be used for intermediate hops in a multi hop point-to-point link (E) or full duplex communications on single hop link (D).
64Mb of 366MHz DDR RAM
More RAM means more capacity for routing and firewall rules and greater speed with high number of users, but also a higher cost that might be unnecessary on SOHO links . While Lobo 900 Series are equiped with a minimum of 2Gb of RAM of 1066MHz DDR3 RAM, low cost Legacy Series (and most competitors) are equipped with 64 or 128Mb or 366MHz DDR RAM.

SingleCore CPU
Low cost single core MIPS CPUs are perfect solutions for low load Wireless Networks applied in short distance links where there is little use of CPU resources on error correction (error correction can be intensive on long distance links). MIPS has a long tradition for energy efficient low cost CPUs. Lobometrics Legacy Series are equiped with MIPS single core processors witha single thread per CPU cycle (no Hyperthreading). 
MultiCore CPU
An advanced wireless network server performs many tasks simultaneously, error correction (always present in a medium such as air), filter rules and firewalls, connection control, adjustable bandwidth, traffic encryption, authentication user. Only a system with multiple simultaneous high-speed processors can keep keep up that concurrency in real time. On single processor systems, augmented security, data encryption or user control will directly consume resources that will noticeably reduce overall performance. Lobometrics Intel multicore CPU can execute up to 4 instructions per cycle and each of them at double speed, which in realworld performance terms can easily mean 5X network performance gains.
VibraProtect (R)
Sometimes Lobometrics devices are subjected to high levels of mechanical stress resulting from vibration and shock. The Lobometrics electronics are suspended by a combination of viscoelastic dampers and X/Y/Z torsionable axes for controlled flexibility very efective in shock and vibration neutralisation. Through this system, the Lobometrics systems can be installed on trains, boats and all types of vehicles and machinery in industrial areas.

Having a useful control of a network system is only possible if the events are recorded and can be viewed later. When an attack, error, or any service or event relevant to the administrator occurs, the system must be able to store large amounts of information at high speed. Passive PoE enables low cost power feeding to the Lobo Legacy device through two unused wires of the Ethernet cable. Cable length can be up to 100m and the power supplied must be between 10 and 28VDC. 
Customers want standardized equipment to streamline maintenance and assure mid-and-long-term supply of spare parts. Lobometrics systems are powered by injecting electricity to four wires of the Ethernet cable through an active Gigabit PoE that fully complies the 802.3af/at IEEE standard, so that in case of failure customers can find easy supply or use other equipments adapters.

All Lobometrics devices radio output power can be adjusted with precision in 1dB steps in order to comply with any regulation currently active as well as obtain clean and non distorted signals in short links and add an extra layer of safety by not covering wider areas than necesary.
All network input/output interfaces are linked through a last generation Intel PCiExpress bus, with a maximum bandwidth of 4Gb/s. Competitors use previous PCi standard of 266Mb/s. By using the latest technology to comunciate the hardware, Lobometrics ensures that no bottlenecks will be created and a fluent data flow.

Not just that, the software must also take the user to its full potential.Lobometrics systems are equipped with the best Networking OS around together with Cisco®, the RouterOS, and going one step further, Lobometrics has enhaced the Router OS with extra layers and utilities in areas like user management, administration, security and replication for telecom operators.
Its propietary Linux based operating system is a superset of MT OS which considered together with Cisco the most advanced networking OS available. Administration is done through its dual graphic/console interface, that enables network administrators to control each and every aspect of the network performance and features such as firewall rules, VPN Server and Client, bandwidth shaper QoS, wireless access point and other commonly used features for routing and connecting networks together. The system is also able to serve as a captive-portal based hotspot system. RouterOS supports many applications that can be used by medium size to large ISP, for example OSPF, BGP, VPLS/MPLS. Lobometrics systems are completely programable, that means that it can be configured to be 100% dynamic and change any of its attributes depending on the situation. For example, we can easily configure a Lobometrics device to change its protocols depending on the number of users, climate (air fading) or time of the day, or we can configure it to automatically turn on a second radio in case of any failure detected on the main one.
Most Lobometrics systems are installed in public places, or at least in places publicly accesible. To avoid vandalism and sabotage, Lobometrics systems have no external buttons or switches. Resets can be done following a very concrete power protocol, and Lobometrics devices are the only ones in the market equiped with a software safety lock that automatically returns the system to a determiend comunication automatically after a defined amount of time.

LoboClone On big deployments with a large number of devices a tool like LoboClone becomes a necessary timesaver. With LoboClone any configuration, complete or partial, can be cloned from one device to others, enabling fast replication. Partial replications may include firewall, network, security, wireless hardware or any other configuration data or any combination of them. Exported modules can be archived for future deployments or for backup units or transmitted for any remote deployment. LoboClone also enables Lobometrics technical support staff to help customers with advanced configurations just by sending a file.
LoboLog LoboLog tool enables administrators to have background monitoring of their wireless network in their Windows desktops. Health status as well as any incident or any configured trigger will display a message in the administrators desktop. By means of LoboLog tool any person with responsibilities on the network will be able to relax knowing that an effective supervision is active and that he will be immediately notices on any critical situation.

The Lobo 968R includes a iron mounting kit that enables installing the device on any wall or pole with stability and security. Its structure has been designed to support the extra weigth of a couple of high gain antennas and other accesories like filters, amplifiers, splitters and cables.
